The following are some shots of onion tissue, where you can see the individual cells. It is easy to see the cell wall and the structure of the tissue. Also note that the tiny dots are the nuclei of the cells.
Overall, a very cool experience that shows the structure of plant cells as well as tissues.
This is a sample of tissue inside a human cheek (mouth). These are animals cells, which are much smaller than the plant cells above. The shape is less organized but very cool to watch.
After having seen the onion, it is apparent that animal cells can be considerably smaller than plant cells.
This experiment helped highlight the differences between plant and animal cells/tissues. I think being able to see the samples under a microscope really let me better understand the topic.
